sitting trop
This rider is not sitting straight and flowing with the horse's movements, but has a rounded back with a backwards leaning tendency. Her hands are held too high and appear unyielding. Not a pretty sight, but unfortunately one seen at many dressage competitions.
Whether there are riding faults or not, this video has me completely inspired. From now on, I'm going to try to maximize my Sitting and minimize my Rising. I don't know about everyone else, but I actually got that bubbly excited feeling just by watching the Sitting, it was incredibly Quiet!
all i can say is relax, my coach used to tell me to turn my pelvis into jello. feel the horses rhythm. another analogy i loved from "centered riding" from sally swift was her amazing imagery - she advises to imagine you are riding with your legs cut off at the knees. sounds silly, but it works. it keeps you from gripping with your calves.
